Market Notebook
Discussion –
Global equities ripped higher last week while the bond complex generally consolidated in a range.
Chart price action across multiple instruments suggests market participants believe that growth will remain strong and inflation under control. It is as though market participants believe that corporate profits will remain strong enough to keep equity prices rising while, at the same time, inflationary pressures weak enough to delay Fed tapering. Can the real economy balance on the head of a pin? Time will tell.
Next, or rather this week, since it is Labor Day, is a light economic data release week. The markets are closed today, Labor Day.
Remain prepared to take advantage of opportunities should they arise.
All the best in the week ahead.
